Carrara marble, circa 1780. Acquired from a Venetian palazzo during
dispersal. The sitter was never identified. They left no other trace.

Brass Font Oil Lamp
Patinated brass, hand-blown reservoir. Burned whale oil through three
lighthouse winters. Still functional. Still necessary.

Cast from a mould taken at the threshold of a demolished Kyoto temple.
Concrete, iron rebar. Kept watch for forty years.
